Vietnam to inspect all seafood exports to US, Canada
Vietnam's Ministry of Fisheries will be examining all seafood consignments for food safety and quality, before exporting to US and Canada. Checks for antibiotic residues and chemical substances will be carried out on basa and tra fish, shrimp and crabmeat.
In addition, US shipments will be checked for malachite green, leucomalachite green, and fluoroquinolone in basa and tra fish, chloramphenicol, nitrofurans in shrimp and chloramphenicol in crabmeat.
Canadian shipments will be examined for chloramphenicol and malachite green and leucomalachite green in tra and basa fish.
