EU To Issue License To Import 5,921 MT Wheat to November 10

This week, the European Commission has issued licenses to import 5,921 metric tons of wheat under the European Union wheat import quota for low- and medium-quality soft wheat of non-U.S. and non-Canadian origin, according to Commission figures.

This brings the total tonnage of import licenses issued under the non-U.S. and non-Canadian contingent to 91,592 tons for the fourth quarter tranche up to Nov. 10, with 869,371 tons still available.

October 6 was the first time that traders could apply for the licenses from the fourth-quarter tranche of non-U.S. and non-Canadian origin wheat import licenses under the E.U.'s low- and medium-quality soft wheat import quota.

The non-U.S. and non-Canadian import quota, which totals 2.3716 million tons per year, is broken into four separate tranches of 592,900 tons, with traders able to apply for each tranche of licenses on the first Monday after January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.
