Russia's grain exports up 13% on-year

Data from the federal statistics service shows that Russia's grain exports rose 13% from a year earlier.

Between July 1, the beginning of the current marketing year, and November 6, grain exports totalled 11.684 million tonnes, the statistics service said. Grain exports between November 1 and November 6 totalled 507,000 tonnes, including 322,000 tonnes of wheat, 58,000 tonnes of barley and 124,000 tonnes of corn.

The agriculture ministry expects this year's grain harvest to rise to 88-90 million tonnes from 71.7 million tonnes in 2012 when crops were damaged by drought.

In the 2012-13 marketing year, Russia's grain export fell to 15.69 million tonnes from 27.2 million tonnes in the previous marketing year. In the current marketing year, July 2013-June 2014, the ministry expects Russia's grain exports to rise to 18-20 million tonnes.
