France raises corn crop estimate to 15.2 million tonnes
The estimate of this year's grain corn crop was slightly raised by the French farm ministry on Monday (Nov 12) to 15.2 million tonnes from 15.1 million tonnes seen last month, now down 3.1% on last season.
The ministry cut its estimate of the 2012 sugar beet production to 33.5 million tonnes from 34.1 million previously. The French beet crop would now be 10.1% lower than the 2011 harvest.
For soft wheat, the ministry slightly revised down its estimate of this year's harvest, now seen at 35.8 million tonnes, down from 35.9 million seen in October but still up 5.3% on last year's crop.
