Press Release

Viterra Inc. has opened its Geneva office Thursday (Nov 12), holding a reception that welcomed European business leaders and government officials.

Geneva is a known focal point of foreign trade activities, and Viterra is proud to join the city's esteemed businesses, according to Viterra president and CEO Mayo Schmidt.

Viterra's marketing efforts through its Geneva office are an integral part of the company's strategy to expand its grain marketing and origination capabilities in major grain exporting countries in Europe and pursue opportunities within the value-added agri-business industry.

Christian Joerg, Vice-President & Managing Director, Europe, is responsible for implementing Viterra's growth platform and global arbitrage logistics in the region. This includes the development of Viterra's capacities in marketing of grains in the main importing countries of Europe, Middle East and Africa as well as building up a sourcing network for our core commodities in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

"With Viterra's acquisition of ABB Grain in Australia, our European office adds further value to the Company's geographical reach and diversity," said Joerg, adding that population and income growth in emerging markets are leading to dramatic increases in global demand for core commodities, which Viterra has a critical role in supplying.
