India's poultry farmers need access to technology

India's poultry farmers, particularly those operating on a smaller scale, should have better access to technology in order to boost production and marketing, according to a top official.

The poultry industry needs improved biosecurity measures, and poultry genetic resources should be closely monitored, said Union Minister for State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas.

Local breeds should be promoted and traditional farming wisdom should be utilised, he added.
