RMB1= US$0.1464 (Nov 13)

Suppliers' quotes

U.S. whey producers cut production and reduce export volumes to China in an effort to stabilise falling prices. However, trade was light as demand failed to pick up. Nevertheless, prices of US low-protein feed-grade whey edged up to US$445/tonne.

Market analysis

Although supply tightened, demand for whey in China was weak as rearing profits remained unpromising. Moreover, feed millers were extremely cautious while the market showed no signs of improvement.

Market forecast

Near-term whey prices are seen to remain stable.
