China's processed fish exports up 28 percent

 

 

China's processed or preserved fish exports in the first nine months of 2007 soared 27.88 percent on-year, according to information released by the Ministry of Agriculture.

 

This segment accounts for 23.19 percent, or nearly a quarter of total seafood exports.

 

Fresh or frozen fish fillet exports, which also accounts for a quarter of total aquatic product exports, rose 7.85 percent on-year,

 

Processed and preserved crustacean exports accounted for the next quarter (23.25 percent) of the total aquatic product exports, growing 3.07 percent on-year.

 

Meanwhile, prices for fresh or cold fish dipped 23.56 percent, while live fish fell nearly 13 percent, crustaceans saw a drop of 7.4 percent and frozen fish saw a drop of 5.5 percent.

 

China's seafood exports rose 8 percent to US$6.96 billion during the period while imports reached US$3.7 billion rising by 11.54 percent.
