Vietnam decries high poultry feed prices

High feed prices are causing major problems for Vietnam's poultry industry, according to Nguyen Dang Vang, director of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Animal Husbandry Department.

The price of poultry feed in Vietnam is now 12.5 percent higher than in Thailand, thereby putting the nation at a disadvantage, Nguyen said.

The small-scale production dominant in Vietnam, compared to the large scale consolidated industries in Thailand, also puts Vietnam further behind in the competition for export dollars, Nguyen said.
