Seafood exports to Europe rise to $200m
Pakistan's fish and shrimp exports to the EU have risen 30 percent from US$154 million last year to US$200 million this year.
This was stated by Dr Mohammed Nawaz Baluch, Managing Director Karachi Fish Harbour Authority, adding that standards of cleanliness at the nation's jetties and market have been improved this year.
The increase in fish and shrimp export to Europe is a positive development for the industry, Chairman of Fisheries Fakir Jadim Mangrio said, noting that the EU has lifted ban on these exports from Pakistan.
Pakistan's fish and shrimp are being exported also to US, China, Sri Lanka and other countries.
