Thai egg, pork prices remain firm
Thailand's egg and pork producers reassured that there will be no price change in both wholesale and retail, explaining that the recent egg price hike is owing to the increase in demand.
The meeting between Commerce Minister Porntiva Nakasai and three agricultural organisations-the Swine Farmer Association, the Layer Farmer Association, and the Rice Packer Association-has concluded that there would be no price rise in these sectors until the end of the year.
The regular price of pork remains at THB105-120 (US$3.52-4.03) per kilogramme.
Meanwhile, egg prices are reported to increase owing to the insufficient supply for larger orders. Buyers are forced to pay higher to fulfil their demands. Yet, some big retailers have agreed to lower the price by 10 satang per egg.
