The production of compound pig feed in the UK was 467,000 tonnes during the third quarter of 2015, based on the most recent figures provided by Defra. The volume represented a 4% rise from the same period in 2014.
This trend has been chiefly attributed to the 9% increase in grower feed output, coupled with a 3% rise for finisher feed. It also reflects the possibility that more pigs were being fed and consistent with the latest forecasts which expected further growth in production in the months to come.
In addition, the average price of compound pig feed was US$359.25 / tonne, a similar figure as the last quarter
Compound animal feed, in general, saw a total production spike of 5%, with poultry feed output swelling by 13%. For feed ingredients, the use of wheat went up by 9% while barley and corn dropped by 11% and 7%, respectively.
