Bruneian national aquaculture farms accreditation system in development
Brunei's Department of Fisheries is developing a national aquaculture farms accreditation system to provide a benchmark that ensures aquaculture farms produce market safe and high quality seafood products, its director Hjh Hasnah Hj Ibrahim said yesterday.
She said that establishing the system would also allow the farmers to get international recognition and tap export markets.
Although she did not indicate when the system will be ready, the director said the department had been compiling data and practices to be adopted from several international accreditation bodies.
In most cases, buyers in the US would feel more convinced to import seafood products from exporters who meet the BAP requirements.
