China corn prices generally lower, but stable in north-eastern regions (Nov 10, 2005)

An eFeedLink exclusive report

Corn prices in China were generally lower in the past week, mainly due to weak demand and seasonal downward pressure with the entry of new grain into markets nationwide.

Additionally, the worsened bird flu situation in China has fuelled bearish sentiments in livestock and poultry production.

Corn prices in the north-eastern production regions have remained stable lately, as significant quantities of new crop corn were not yet released into local markets.

In the Yellow/Huai River production regions, corn prices continued to move lower due to abundant supplies of new crop corn there.

Meanwhile, delivered-to-station corn prices in the southern consumption regions also moved lower lately, following an increase in quantities of new crop corn arriving from north-eastern and northern China.
