Merial introduces new Flu-Kit for swine influenza virus
Merial has developed a new Merial Flu-Kit that can verify the presence of swine influenza virus (SIV) in the field after the recent launch of Gripovac 3 in all EU countries.
Gripovac 3 is a new swine influenza vaccine which includes three subtypes of the Swine Influenza Virus (H1N2, H1N1 and H3N2); these strains are the latest strains and respond to field requirements of European countries where the strains are spreading.
The Merial Flu-Kit is a diagnosis tool-box for veterinarians to assist them in identifying the presence of SIV by in-the-field diagnosis. The kit consists of materials which are necessary to perform on-the-farm diagnosis.
The Synbiotics Flu Detect Swine diagnostic kit allows one to detect the presence of SIV in a fever-affected pig. However, it does not specify which the strain involved as this can only be done by PCR and viral isolation from the nasal swab in local labs.
