Brazil's largest meat processor Sadia posted in Q3 a net profit of 177.8 million real (US$80.7 million), a 57.8-percent rise from last year. Domestic sales hit 1 billion real in the same period, a rise of 10.8 percent year-on-year.
Thus for Q1-3 this year, the company recorded a net profit of 423 million real, an increase of 35.9 percent from the same period last year. Its domestic Q1-3 sales revenue grew by 13.9 percent to 3 billion real (US$1.361 billion) from 2004, while gross revenue rose 15 percent to 6.1 billion real.
Sadia attributed its better-than-expected growth to the better performance of its sales teams, productivity gains and logistic optimisation; the company's sales volume rose 9.1 percent to 206,400 tonnes in this period.
