China Feed Additives Market Forum 2005 held in Qingdao, China

China Feed Additives Market Forum 2005 was held on Nov 7 in Qingdao, Shandong province. This event was organised by eFeedLink and China's National Feed Technology Development Research Center. The co-organisers were Global Bio-Chem Technology Development Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., DSM (China) Co. Ltd., Yixing Akzonobel Co., Ltd, Wuhan Sunhy Biology Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Ever-source Chemical Corporation.
China Feed Additives Market Forum is regarded by industry players as an important event for the country's feed additives industry. The event was first held in Shanghai in Sep 2004. Topics that were covered in this year's forum include development in China's methionine, lysine and vitamins markets as well as the industrial application and price trends of threonine, phytase and calcium phosphate.
This forum has enabled producers, traders and end-users to develop a better understanding of the current trends and future prospects of China's feed additives market. Most importantly, it is a platform for participants to discuss and exchange industry-related information.
Kong Pingtao, head of News and Market Research Division, China Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Association, was the first speaker. His topic entitled "China's Feed Additives: current trends and future development" was on the present status of China's animal feed and feed additives industries as well as their future development trends.
In his report on "Current status and future development of China's Threonine market", Jia Dongshu, the technical director (after-sales service) of Global Bio-Chem Technology Development Co. Ltd., highlighted recent findings on the nutritional value of threonine, the market potential as well as present consumption and future trends.
Wang Dawei, the general manager of Sichuan Ever-source Chemical Corporation, gave a supply and demand analysis of China's feed-grade phosphate market in his topic entitled "Feed-grade phosphate: analysis of production and consumption".
The report by Zhan Zhichun, general manager of Wuhan Sunhy Biology Co., Ltd, entitled "Analysis of the phytase and calcium phosphate market", was well-received by participants as the substitutability between phytase and calcium phosphate has been a hot topic in the industry.
The afternoon session of the forum was hosted by Sun Ming, assistant director of the Research and Development Center of China's National Feed Technology Development Research Center.
The report "Challenges and opportunities facing China's lysine industry" delivered by Jiang Ming, the deputy general manager of eFeedLink, was the focus of the session. Besides analyzing international and domestic lysine demand and supply, Jiang also discussed the challenges facing the industry as well as the opportunities that can be seized. Participants were clearly interested in this topic when they gave a few rounds of applause to the speaker during the talk.
The next presenter was Yan Xianghao from Sumitomo Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., who gave a detailed report on "Global methionine supply and demand analysis". This was followed by Dr Wu Jinlong from DSM (China), who gave a talk on "China's vitamin market and latest development in feed-grade vitamins".
The final speaker at the forum, Lin Shusen, general manager of Yixing Akzonobel Co., Ltd, started his talk on "The global and domestic market for choline chloride" by showing a documentary entitled "Feed is a source of Food". In the course of his presentation, some participants urged Yixing Akzonobel to take the lead in setting industry benchmarks in the safety of feed products and called for a campaign to boycott poor quality goods that have flooded the market.
Over 180 trade representatives from the following companies and organisations were present at the forum: Novus, Sumitomo, Ajinomoto, BASF, Adisseo, ADM, CJ, Danisco, Global Bio-Chem, BBCA, Ningxia Yipin, Mudanjiang Lujin, Zhejiang NHU Group, Lomon Corp, Chuan Heng, VTR Bio-tech, Kaite Group, Dabeinong Group, China Animal Husbandry Group, DKSH and Guangdong Haid Group, etc.
