China's Fuzhou plans trading market to sell Taiwanese seafood
Fuzhou is intending to build a large-scale trading market to allow wholesalers from Taiwan to sell seafood directly to mainland customers, according to local authorities.
The seafood market has an area of 10.7 hectares and a 150, 000-tonne cold storage facility, said an official with the municipal government of Fuzhou.
Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province, faces Taiwan across the strait. The short distance to Fuzhou would decrease transportation fees and reduce the prices of Taiwan seafood sold at the market, said the official.
The seafood market will be constructed by the end of this year and is expected to be completed in 2012.
