Turkey's grain output to meet local demand
Turkey's current grain production level is expected to meet local demand despite a slight drop in 2010, according to figures of TurkStat, the country's statistics authority.
Statistical data put production estimations in Turkey at 32.4 million tonnes with a 3.4% decrease against a backdrop of 14.6% rise over a year earlier.
International Grain Council experts say the global supply will fall behind demand for the first time in four years with a 3% drop due low production in giants like Russia and China.
Wheat production in Turkey is expected to drop 5.3% on-year to 19.5 million tonnes as rice production is expected to increase 16.7% to 875,000 tonnes.
