Czech Republic's 2010 grain harvest down by 10% on-year
The final estimate for the Czech Republic's total 2010 grain harvest is 7.025 million tonnes, down 10.1% from the 2009 harvest of 7.817 million tonnes, the Czech Statistics Office (CSU) said Friday (Nov 5).
Total grains figure includes both corn and basic grains including wheat. The overall area sown with grains decreased 4.5% to 1.450 million hectares from 1.519 million hectares harvested in 2009.
The estimate is based on data collected from local farmers October 15.
The estimated corn crop yield is expected to total 7.31 tonnes a hectare this year, down from 8.45 tonnes a hectare in 2009.
