Bids of Ukraine's traders exceed grain export quota

Grain traders filed bids for export of three million tonnes of grain until the year-end, said President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation Leonid Kozachenko, who is also heading the Entrepreneurs Union at the Cabinet.

"I know that (grain traders) filed many bids (for grain export), approximately at three million tonnes, i.e. slightly exceeding the quota amount of 2.7 million tonnes and a decision has not been taken yet. The government could not develop the turning down and permitting criteria," Kozachenko said.

He informed that at ports there are over 400,000 tonnes of grain now and approximately 200,000 tonnes onboard the ships.

Since October 19, Ukraine has introduced grain export quotas. The quota has been set till 2011 and makes up 2.7 million tonnes, in particular, for wheat export - 500,000 tonnes, corn - 2,000 tonnes, barley - 200,000 tonnes, rye and buckwheat - by 1,000 tonnes.
