Belarus temporarily restricts poultry imports from Nepal
Belarus temporarily banned the import of live poultry, incubating eggs, poultry meat and all other kinds of processed poultry, feathers, and fodder from Nepal in order to prevent the spread of the avian influenza virus.
According to the information provided by the International Office of Epizootics, an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been registered in Nepal.
Avian influenza viruses are highly contagious. The high pathogenicity avian influenza can kill up to 90-100% poultry flock. Epidemics of high pathogenicity avian influenza can spread rapidly, devastate the poultry industry and result in severe trade restrictions.
