Dairy, meat products to boost Belarus' agricultural development
The meat and dairy sectors represent good prospects for Belarus' agricultural development as it exports not only to the Russian Federation but other countries too.
According to the Belarusian head of government, the countries Belarus borders on put a lot of efforts into building up the production of the so called fast meat - poultry meat. For instance, Russia will satisfy its demand for this product in the next two or three years. The situation is virtually the same as far as pork and beef are concerned.
Mikhail Myasnikovich mentioned Eastern Asia and South-eastern Asia countries as promising alternative markets for Belarusian meat and dairy products. "We are working on delivering 2,000 tonnes of skimmed milk powder to Vietnam and are also considering rational import. For instance, Vietnam can supply cheaper rice and other foods," he believes.
Southeast Asia is a promising market for Belarus. In the near future the Belarusian head of government plans to pay a visit to the region and hold negotiations about selling dairy products there. "We plan to discuss not only the export of Belarusian products but also the construction of milk processing factories so that we could have a complete product cycle and increase the added value. The development of the dairy industry in Belarus is promising, profitable and effective," concluded Mikhail Myasnikovich.
