Vietnam's Hanoi bans poultry farming in urban areas
Vietnamese authorities would ban poultry breeding in eight urban areas within Hanoi come November 15.
The regulation banned the bringing in, breeding and hatching of water fouls and quails until further notice. Outdoor poultry rearing would also be banned in Hanoi's outlying areas.
Breeders holding less than 3,000 poultry would need to request a permit from local communal-level authorities. Those owning over 3,000 poultry would require a permit from district-level authorities, after getting approval from communal-level authorities and the local district-level veterinary station.
In addition, poultry slaughter would only be permitted at several abattoirs registered with the authorities. Since early November, Hanoi has also prohibited transport and trade of poultry from unclear sources, or those without official certificates of origin and quarantine.
