US pork exports to Mexico show quick rebounds

After a brief decline during the initial outbreak of AH1N1 flu, US pork exports to Mexico have rebounded quickly and impressively, the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is reporting.

Since May, pork exports to Mexico have increased steadily and year-to-date (through August) they are exceeding last year's pace by 38 percent in volume and 17 percent in value.

USMEF regional director for Mexico Chad Russell commented on the consumer education and marketing efforts undertaken by USMEF to help restore consumer confidence in the safety of pork.
