Brazil '09-10 wheat crop seen up 14.3 percent on-year

Brazil's 2009-10 wheat crop should be 14.3-percent greater than last season's crop, for a total output of five million tonnes, the National Commodities Supply Corp., or Conab, said Thursday (Nov 5).

Brazil is estimated to produce 5.8 million tonnes from the ongoing 2008-09 wheat crop.

The estimate was down slightly from 5.2 million tonnes from Conab's last data in October.

The 2008-09 wheat crop is currently being harvested and has been impacted by wet weather, especially in the south of Brazil.
