Ukraine harvests 45.6 million tonnes grain to Nov 4
Ukraine harvested 45.6 million tonnes of grain to November 4 on 15 million hectares, or 97 percent of the total area to be harvested, with the average yield of 3.04 tonnes a hectare, the agriculture ministry said Thursday (Nov 5).
The ministry said the corn harvest, which is still continuing, was 7.86 million tonnes on 1.6 million hectares, or 75 percent of the total area to be harvested, with the average yield of 4.93 tonnes a hectare.
The agriculture ministry had forecast Ukraine's grain harvest this year at 45 million tonnes, compared with the 53.3 million tonnes harvested in 2008.
