Lithuania's competition panel clears sale of Rose Poultry
Lithuania's Competition Council has cleared the purchase of Denmark's poultry processor Rose Poultry by Finland's HKScan.
The panel okayed the deal; its representative, Palmira Kvietkauskiene said Thursday (Nov 4). HKScan seeks to purchase 100% of the Danish company.
HKScan owns Estonia's meat group Rakvere Lihakombinaat, which controls Lithuania's meat processor Klaipedos Maisto Mesos Produktai (Klaipeda Food Meat Products).
Rakvere Lihakombinaat also controls Estonia's poultry company Tallegg and Latvia's meat processor Rigas Miesnieks, which markets its products in Lithuania with the brand name of Klaipedos Maistas (Klaipeda Food).
HKScan is the fifth largest food producer in Europe and the largest producer of meat products in the Baltic countries. The group owns food companies around the Baltic Sea, including the largest Sweden's meat producer Scan, Poland's Sokolow. The group is active in nine countries and employs a workforce of 10,000.
