Vietnam '09 seafood export revenue seen at US$4.4 billion
Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) forecast that the country's total seafood export revenue may hit US$4.4 billion in 2009.
Of the total, tra and basa catfish shipments will account for 50.4 percent in volume and 32.7 percent in volume; shrimp export will make up 15.9 percent in volume and 36.9 percent in value; tuna export will represent 4.4 percent in volume and 4.0 percent in value and mollusca export will account for 6.7 percent in volume and 6.8 percent in value.
Vietnam exported US$450 million worth of seafood in October, raising its total seafood export revenue in the first ten months of 2009 to US$3.488 billion, down 8.7 percent from a year earlier, the Information Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agroinfo) reported.
