China methionine prices resume uptrend amid insufficient supply

Prices of methionine moved higher during the week ending November 2.

Supplies of methionine remained tight while traders held back releases in anticipation of supply shortages. Hence, methionine prices regained upward momentum after stabilising temporarily over the previous week. In cases where buyers needed the product urgently, transaction prices shot up to as high as RMB120-130/kg.

Methionine market is poised to maintain its upward momentum although the weak poultry market will decimate demand to a certain extent.
