Corn prices in China marginally lower in most regions (Nov 3, 2005)

An eFeedLink exclusive report

Corn prices in China were marginally lower in most regions due to weak demand and the entry of newly harvested corn into the market.

Although corn prices in the north-eastern production region have remained stable, the gradual entry of new corn stocks is set to exert pressure on prices.

In the Yellow/Huai River production regions, the pace of decline in the prices of newly harvested corn has slowed. As the procurement prices for new corn are low, many farmers are not willing to part with their stocks. This has resulted in lower market supplies and has helped to cushion prices from falling significantly even though new corn stocks have arrived at the markets.

Corn prices at the ports were lower as inventory continues to build up amid lacklustre demand.
