Brazil's chicken export up 14 percent on-year, prices up 25 percent

 

 

Brazil fresh chicken exports reached 277,100 metric tonnes in October compared to 215,700 tonnes in September, the Foreign Trade ministry said Thursday (November 2, 2007).

 

The figure is 14.5 percent above chicken export levels of 242,700 tonnes in October 2006.

 

Average prices for Brazilian chicken were US$1,463 per tonne in October compared with US$1,447 per tonne in September and US$1,164 per tonne in October 2006. This means October's chicken prices are up 25 percent on-year.

 

Brazil is the world's leading chicken exporter.
