China to increase grain output by 50 million tonnes yearly
China plans to increase grain production by 50 million tonnes yearly towards 2020 by actively promoting the application of technology and exploring new methods to stabilise production.
The country would also make efforts to increase annual rapeseed output by more than five million tonnes within eight years, the ministry noted at an opening ceremony for a pilot grain output promotion model in east China's Shandong province.
Against a backdrop of rising constraints on agricultural resources, technology has become fundamental to promote the steady development of grain production and ensure supply.
The MOA has decided to overcome technology bottlenecks and test mature technology models to constantly enhance the scale, mechanisation, and information technology level in agricultural production.
