US lifts restrictions on Canadian rapeseed plant
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has lifted restrictions against Canadian rapeseed meal imports from a Bunge Ltd plant.
This move has further eased a situation that has sharply cut Canadian exports to the US over health concerns.
The FDA has removed the plant in Altona, Manitoba from its online list of plants that are on import-alert status due to concerns about salmonella bacteria in animal feeds, Bunge spokeswoman Deb Seidel confirmed Friday (Oct 29).
The restrictions allowed US inspectors to detain shipments without physically examining them.
