Australian fresh pork producer deploys new boning line

PPC Linley Valley Fresh, one of Australia's largest fresh pork producers, opened a new AUD$4 million (US$3.6 million) pork boning line at the Wooroloo works in western Australia.

Kim Chance, Minister for Agriculture for Western Australia praised the decision by Craig Mostyn Group to use the new line as "an example of forward-thinking" in an increasingly competitive global market.

The technology, made in Iceland, allows full traceability through a labeling system, according to Chairman of the Group's board, Jim Kennedy, thus ensuring a high-class quality product.

The new boning system would boost production significantly by enabling higher volumes to be processed and would thus allow expansion of product range, a spokesman from the company said.
