China's Qingdao exports more than 40 percent of aquaculture products to EU

 

 

According to data released by the Department of Ocean and Fisheries on Monday (Oct 29), Shandong's Qingdao exported 41.9 percent of its aquaculture products to EU member countries during in the first three quarters of 2007. These exported products were worth US$406 million.

 

Over the same period, total import and export of aquaculture products handled by Qingdao amounted to 848,000 tonnes, and these were worth US$1.87 billion.

 

The major export markets for Qingdao's aquaculture products--mainly sliced frozen cod fish--were EU member countries, the US, Japan, Canada and South Korea.
