Lactalis acquires stakes in Slovenia dairy firm

French food group, Lactalis, will buy a 50.3% stake in Slovenia's main milk producer Ljubljanske mlekarne.
"Ljubljanske mlekarne will strengthen Lactalis' position in the region and in south-eastern Europe, where the group is a leading player in the milk and milk products market," the French group said.
The deal still has to be approved by the Slovenian competition authority after which Lactalis will publish a takeover offer to acquire the remaining shares in Ljubljanske mlekarne, the statement said.
The acquisition price was not disclosed.
Ljubljanske mlekarne is Slovenia's largest producer of milk and milk-related products with some 550 employees. It owns several brands that are well known in most of the former Yugoslav republics.
