Croatia tests three dead swans for bird flu
Three dead swans found in eastern Croatia are being tested for bird flu, authorities said Friday.
The three birds were discovered late Thursday in a pond close to the Slavonski Brod city, about 30 kilometres south of the Zdenci nature park where six dead swans that tested positive for bird flu on Oct 21 were found.
A UK laboratory confirmed this week that the six were infected with the lethal H5N1 strain, which has been detected in Europe in Romania, Turkey and Russia.
