EU largest importer of Ukrainian oilseeds
                     


The EU remained one of the largest buyers of Ukrainian oilseeds and byproducts, importing 4,600 tonnes of sunflower or nearly 70 percent of total export volumes during the first month of 2009-10.

 

Last year, Ukraine shipped 371,700 tonnes of sunflower seed to the EU, or nearly 50 percent of total export volumes of the oilseed.

 

The EU increased imports of sunflower oil, importing 178,200 tonnes of sunflower oil in September compared to 59,700 tonnes in the same period of the previous season.

 

In the first month of 2009-10, the EU imported 78,600 tonnes of sunflower meal, cake, and peel from Ukraine, or 77.5 percent of total export volumes.

 

During the period of July-September of 2009, the EU imported 479,300 tonnes of canola from Ukraine or 75.5 percent from the general export volumes of the oilseed.
