DSM deputy chairman to retire in January
Global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company Royal DSM, headquartered in the Netherlands, announced on Wednesday (Oct 28) that Jan Zuidam, deputy chairman of the managing board of directors of DSM, will retire on January 1, 2010.
Zuidam worked 36 years for DSM, of which he served 12 years as a member of DSM's managing board.
The supervisory board and the managing board have agreed not to fill the vacancy at this point in time and to distribute the tasks of Zuidam amongst the other members of the managing board.
He worked in a wide variety of positions as plant manager, head of purchasing and head of production for different business groups. He was also the director of DSM Andeno and the director of Corporate Strategy.
In 1992, he was appointed director of DSM Research and in 1998 he joined DSM's managing board of directors.
Zuidam has also served on numerous boards inside and outside DSM and is currently the chairman of the Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry.
