China to Build Asia's Largest Goose Production Base in Xinjiang

An eFeedLink Exclusive Report

China's Guolin New Technology Development Company has recently announced that it will be investing RMB100 million in Xinjiang Autonomous Region to turn Yili prefecture into the largest goose production base in Asia in three years' time.

This is part of Chinese government's efforts to further speed up the development of western China and to boost the parallel economic development of both the eastern and western regions.

Guolin will inject RMB65 million into Yili prefecture in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, to introduce a business model for standardized production of goose and goose liver.

It will implement a contract production system by cooperating with companies and farmers in the region. Guolin will be providing 3.5 million young geese for the farmers who are contracted with the company for raising geese and Guolin will buy mature geese from these farmers.

Additionally, another RMB35 million will be invested for the development of a goose feed production base.

Guolin and related Chinese government departments have jointly organized a training programme on goose production. A website on the same subject has been developed. The company has also co-established the "China Goose Production Association" in 2003. Other projects in the pipeline include a feed processing plant and a company selling feed and pharmaceutical products in the future.
