Commonwealth of Independent States Council discusses FMD control
 

 

The Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) government heads discussed the set of common CIS member-country measures for foot-and-mouth disease prevention and control up to 2020 at the meeting of the Economic Commission held in the CIS office on October 16, 2013.

 

The Draft Set of Common CIS Member-State Measures for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) Prevention and Control up to 2020 was developed by the FGBI "ARRIAH" jointly with the Rosselkhoznadzor and Veterinary Department of the RF Ministry of Agriculture involving Veterinary Departments (Agencies) of other CIS-countries. This document was reviewed in detail and approved at the meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Veterinary Field held in the FGBI "ARRIAH" on April 5, 2013.

 

It is to become a programme on coordinated actions aimed at prevention of FMD epidemic occurrence and spread in the territories of the CIS-countries and minimising damage due to possible FMD outbreaks. The Economic Commission members representing all CIS-countries approved the above-mentioned document and recommended to submit it for the CIS Economic Council's consideration.

 

Considering the fact that the FGBI "ARRIAH" subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor is a developer and coordinator of the Set of Common CIS Member-State Measures for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) Prevention and Control up to 2020, Anatoly Rakhmanov, Doctor of Science (Veterinary Medicine), Honored RF Scientist, Senior Expert, participated the Economic Commission meeting.
