Russia to restrict EU's meat and livestock imports
Russia might restrict meat and livestock imports from the EU due to the absence of their quality assurances, Russian media reported.
From November 10-13, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) was planning to consult with the European Commission because the veterinary services of some European countries did not provide Russia with safety guarantees on their meat and livestock supplies, said the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert.
An inspection carried out by Russian veterinarians also found that nearly half of the European companies included in the lists of meat and dairy suppliers failed to meet Russia's veterinary requirement, said Dankvert.
Russia would revise the list of the European meat importers from December 1, he added.
