US meat labelling may be delayed till 2008
US new mandatory country-of-origin meat labelling is now likely to be delayed for another two years, due to the Australian beef industry's opposition to the new system.
Australia's beef industry argues that expensive and difficult mandatory labelling would discourage the US food industry from using Australian products.
US House and Senate lawmakers now have agreed to extend next year's September 30 deadline.
