Two additional activities identified for Adisseo's Rovabio™ Excel
Some recent research conducted by Adisseo in collaboration with McGill University in Canada have demonstrated that Rovabio™ Excel acts directly on corn and soybean diets. This newly discovered performance has been confirmed by the identification of two additional enzymatic activities specifically: rhamnogalacturonase and alpha-galactosidase. This further supports the benefits of the multi-enzymatic speciality product, Rovabio™ Excel, in all soybean-based pig and poultry feeds.
Soybean meal contains a significant quantity of non-starch polysaccharides, or NSPs, (210 to 220 g/kg of dry matter), including 55 percent of pectin, mainly in the form of rhamnogalacturonans. It further contains alpha-galactoside series oligosaccharides (raffinose, stachyose and verbascose). The identification of these 2 activities in Rovabio™ provides more in-depth knowledge of its mode of action, impacting higher performance in feeds in which soybeans are always combined with a cereal such as corn, wheat or barley.
Rovabio™ Excel is produced by a specific micro-organism, Penicillium funiculosum. This non-GMO fungus has maintained the capacity to produce several additional enzymatic activities, in addition to the two main activities (xylanase and beta-glucanase). For the record, it was in collaboration with the McGill University that Adisseo originally detected, several years ago, the consistent presence of 17 enzymatic activities, 15 of which were of the carbohydrolase type.
As Rovabio™ Excel is produced naturally from one micro-organism, the multiple enzyme activities are naturally compatible with each other. Together, the multi-enzyme action of Rovabio™ works toward the complete degradation of NSPs, which reduces the digestibility of soybeans, corn and other raw materials used in animal feed.
