Supply shortage keeps China methionine prices strong

Prices of methionine were stable to higher during the week ending October 26.

The supply shortages of methionine in China showed little improvement although more imports arrived lately. However, methionine price stabilised as most buyers held back procurements even with inventories critically low at the current record high prices.

In September, China imported 11,221 tonnes of methionine, lower than August's volume by 14%. In the first three quarters, methionine imports increased 2.14% compared with the same period last year.
