Japan's December wheat needs mostly covered
Japan has already purchased some 364,550 tonnes of the grain in October for December shipment, a government official said Tuesday (Oct 26).
In September, it purchased around 415,000 tonnes for November shipment.
"We have mostly purchased our cargoes for December shipment," the official at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said.
The ministry usually announces a tender to import food-grade wheat on Tuesdays and finalises it Thursdays.
Japan imports food wheat from Canada, Australia and the US. In July, the government set rules for a new loading system for bulk imports of wheat.
