Cargill buys Eagle Milling

Cargill Animal Nutrition has signed a purchase agreement to acquire Arizona-based Eagle Milling Inc.

The purchase would include parts of its feed milling facility in Casa Grande along with its wholesale business for pets and other animals.

Since Cargill had no market presence in the region, the purchase was strategically important to the company, noted Matt Budine, general manager of Cargill's Pacific Coast animal nutrition business.

With the new partnership, Cargill would use its expertise in dairy and equine nutrition to complement Eagle Milling's strengths in distribution of retail farm store products and production of dairy feed, said Budine.

The sale would be finalised early next month, pending approvals.

Cargill has a stated goal of doubling its US animal nutrition business every five to seven years.
