Haryana state of India would achieve 9% growth rate in milk production compared to the present rate of 5% per year.

This is according to Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Addressing a gathering as a chief guest on the inauguration of Dudhmotisagar Dairy in Dharuhera in Rewari district, Hooda exhorted the dairy to procure at least 10-lakh litres of milk daily from milk-producing farmers of the area. Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar inaugurated the dairy.

"The increase in milk procurement will not only encourage dairy farmers to produce more milk, but also generate employment," Hooda said.

The function was presided over by Vipulbhai Chaudhary, chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation and Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union.

The dairy plant has been established by the union and its processing capacity will be 30-lakh litres a day.

"It will improve the supply of milk and its products such as curd and butter milk for consumers in Delhi and National Capital Region," the chief minister said.

Dudhmotisagar Dairy already has one unit of 10-lakh litre capacity at Manesar, Hooda said, adding that Haryana had always been a pioneer in the field of animal husbandry.

The agriculture minister said, "Haryana is progressing in all fields and credit for this goes to Hooda. The players of Haryana have won medals at the Commonwealth Games and London Olympics, enhancing the prestige of the country."
