Vietnam's An Giang province exports US$216 million seafood in Jan-Sept
Vietnam's Mekong Delta An Giang province raked in nearly US$216 million from exporting 96,000 tonnes of seafood in the first nine months of 2009, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website.
The figures showed on-year decreases of 31 percent in value and 32 percent in volume, the ministry noted.
An Giang shipped its seafood to 70 countries and territories during the period, with EU being the biggest importer, accounting for 53 percent of total export revenue.
Asian countries and American countries accounted for 24 percent and 18 percent of total export revenue, respectively.
The provincial service of Agriculture and Rural Development said its pangasius (catfish) output will decrease by 30,000 tonnes to 280,000 tonnes in 2009, mostly due to narrowed farming area.
